Rvvup needed more than a payment plugin. As the platform evolved, the business required scalable Magento and WooCommerce integrations capable of supporting Open Banking, Clearpay, PayPal and future payment methods, all while maintaining fast checkout UX, operational visibility and merchant flexibility.

Across a 20-sprint partnership, GENE supported the design, certification, implementation and optimisation of Rvvup’s eCommerce payment ecosystem. This included Magento and WooCommerce plugin engineering, Pay by Bank prioritisation, refund orchestration, automated testing frameworks, merchant tooling, onboarding support and advanced payment flow development across multiple providers.

Building the Rvvup MVP for WooCommerce

The initial Rvvup MVP focused on creating a dynamic WooCommerce payment experience capable of supporting multiple payment methods within a single embedded flow. We developed full-screen payment modals, dynamic payment method rendering, admin tooling and merchant configuration logic while ensuring compatibility with WooCommerce and Clearpay standards.

Creating Magento Payment Infrastructure from Scratch

As Rvvup expanded beyond WooCommerce, we architected the Magento integration from the ground up. This included SDK integration, Magento module architecture, CI/CD pipelines, Docker development environments and marketplace-standard coding frameworks using PHPCS and PHPStan.

Rvvup wanted to extend payment flexibility beyond Open Banking and BNPL. We implemented PayPal payment journeys across Magento, including Product Detail Page payment flows, embedded checkout experiences and merchant-controlled payment handling logic.

Clearpay integration required significant certification, messaging and compliance work across Magento and WooCommerce. We implemented dynamic Clearpay messaging across PDP, PLP and checkout, restriction handling, threshold logic and storefront UX enhancements designed to maximise eligibility visibility without impacting checkout performance.

One of Rvvup’s strategic goals was increasing Pay by Bank adoption within merchant checkout journeys. We developed prioritisation controls allowing merchants to surface Rvvup higher within payment gateway lists across Magento and WooCommerce while maintaining compatibility with other payment providers.
